In this B12 review, I’m going to test how easy it is to make a website with this builder’s AI – and check if the features are worth your money.
B12 advertises itself as an Artificial Intelligence-based web builder that can create premium websites in as little as 60 seconds.
Wait a minute (boom – a website was made), shouldn’t website building take hours or even days, and be somewhat challenging? I had to try this out.
What surprised me is that this website builder’s AI tool can automatically import relevant information about your company from other parts of the internet.
And also, B12 enhances its AI with HI – human intelligence! Website builder’s users also have access to in-house design experts that help streamline the website creation process and make the website uniquely theirs.
Surprisingly, or not – having some help from both AI and HI makes website building remarkably easy. How? Well, here’s a little spoiler:
There’s a questionnaire presented that gets to the core of your idea. Following that, B12’s AI builds a number of layout and template options that are tailored according to the answers that you provided. So each website is personal to you and you only.
However, such a modern website building solution doesn’t come cheap. In my experience, B12 is one of the most expensive web builders in the industry – so a question arises.
Does it offer enough tools and capabilities to justify its price?
This is where the doubt and the fun begins – let’s dive into this B12 website builder review.
B12 pricing ranges from free to $224 per month if you pay for an annual plan upfront. If you pay month-to-month, prices reach up to $249 per month.
Of course, there is a free plan as well but the only thing you can do is have a website built that is mobile-optimized. Forget a decent amount of resources, third-party integrations, or even such an essential thing like custom domain integration, or customer support.
B12 website builder’s free plan is a good test drive. But like most other free builder plans, it shouldn’t be considered as a genuine website solution.
That’s quite common among the website building industry. But at least we get to taste how this high-tech builder works without paying loads of money first. Talking about money, let’s take a look at those paid plans.
This site builder offers four different ‘paid-for’ plans. All four of these plans include custom domain names, unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, monthly metrics reports, and chat & email support.
All 4 of those will also cost you an arm and a leg.
Unfortunately, B12 is one of the most expensive web builders I’ve ever come across. While many of its features are unique, it's hard seeing how the platform can justify such a large price tag. Considering there are plenty of great web builders on the market for much lower monthly fees, it might be hard to get past this price point.
B12’s primary selling point is its ease of use. The platform automates the initial web building processes, so you don’t have to spend time setting up the core components of your site.
However, there are always two sides to the coin, and saving your time cuts away additional customization that you find on other website builders.
After asking a few questions and searching for relevant information on your idea, B12 will provide you with an initial template for your site.
The process doesn’t stop there. A B12 designer will then spend a day looking at the website and customizing it further to suit your taste. You can also provide feedback and requests to ensure that the site includes the required core components. After it’s set up, you will receive periodic messages from the design team for further updates.
Generally, the process is simple – you request a call, B12 schedules a time, and you connect via a Google call. However, from my experience, not everything works as planned, i.e. some calls get rescheduled. But it’s still a very interesting feature I wish to see implemented even further.
Now, when you’re done talking about your sites and your pages, what actual pages can you add to your website?
Well, B12 offers a wide range of page options to choose from. There are specific layouts built for the event, appointment-booking, product, pricing, award, and other creative pages.
While it’s easy to customize the content and images included in your site, there’s no drag-and-drop tool that you find at other large web building platforms. Still, there’s access to a wide range of controls and design features on the left-hand side of your design portal.
Overall, this is an extremely straightforward platform. B12's AI tools and in-house web designers make the setup process effortless. The only downside is that there's no same level of customization options you find with other web builders.
B12 doesn’t have the same template process as most other web builders. You don’t have a library of templates to choose from when you first sign up for this service. It uses its AI to generate templates specifically geared towards your preferences and requirements.
As you add new pages to the website, B12 will automatically generate template and layout suggestions for each page. You’ll typically have quite a few options to choose from when you start building a new section.
While you may enjoy allowing B12’s AI to take complete control of your website’s design, you won’t have access to a catalog of different template options. If you’re someone who would prefer to shop around for a template for your site, this might be not your cup of tea.
There’s no doubt that B12’s websites are attractive. While using the platform, I was able to build a modern website in a matter of minutes.
B12 also provides real-life examples of its websites being used by businesses around the world. It’s nice to explore these samples to get a feel for the platform’s design capabilities.
Overall, B12's templates are certainly designed to suit modern taste. "Old-fashioned" doesn't seem to belong in this builder's vocabulary. The only downside is that you don't have a catalog of templates to browse through before you build your site.
B12 is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to business tools. While there are plenty of integrations, email options, and SEO tools, there isn’t an option for a functional eCommerce store. To sell online, you’ll have to use third-party integrations. The suitability of B12 will depend on the type of business you’re trying to run.
B12 doesn’t have a robust in-house eCommerce platform. You can integrate PayPal to accept payments on your site. However, you’ll also need to integrate an eCommerce platform if you want to run a proper online store. At present, there are two options – Ecwid and Shopify – for your eCommerce needs.
B12’s eCommerce options are quite limited when compared to some of the giants in the industry. The lack of an in-house eCommerce solution means you’ll have to pay third-party platforms for access to their tools. While B12 makes the integration process straightforward, this certainly isn’t a web builder focused on eCommerce features.
B12 claims that its AI tool automatically designs SEO friendly layouts, but are there any SEO tools that you control? If you want your website to rank high in search results, it needs to be optimized to perform well with leading search engines.
If you head to the ‘SEO and Metadata’ tab on the left-hand side of your control panel, you’ll be able to directly access SEO-related elements.
On this page, you can input site titles, meta descriptions, and favicons for browsers or bookmarks. Filling out these accordingly while using relevant keywords would boost your website’s SEO for sure.
The choice of SEO tools is quite limited, although, it might be enough for some users. As I mentioned before, it all goes back to what type of business you’re aiming for.
B12 doesn’t provide much information about in-house business email accounts for its users. Fortunately, this site builder has a solution for a business email account with your domain using Gmail, Yahoo, or another email platform. You can then connect this to your B12 control portal.
This is not as great as some website builders that have email options in their plans already, but it’s a decent solution to cover up the lack of email.
On top of the traditional business email capabilities, you can also use B12 for email marketing. An additional $45 per month fee is added to access this feature. Yet it might be worth considering if you want to create email marketing campaigns for current and prospective customers.
With B12’s email marketing platform, you can create custom emails to provide correspondence for welcoming clients, launching websites, requesting surveys, announcing new services, announcing products, advertising promotions, announcing events, or any other purpose in general.
All emails will automatically include the colors and fonts associated with your website’s design. This is an excellent way to retain your overall branding in your email campaign.
While B12 does an excellent job of helping you design a website, a lot of the platform’s functionality comes from the use of third-party integrations. While we’ve already taken a look at the platform’s eCommerce integrations, you can also use these third-party tools to help with everything from restaurant reservations to web chats.
Some of the most well-known integrations include: Youtube, PayPal, Shopify, WordPress Blog, Google Forms, and etc.
If you want to keep track of your B12 website’s performance, you’ll need to add Google Analytics.
While B12 walks you through the integration process, the platform doesn’t offer its own in-house analytics solution. You’ll need to sign up for a Google Analytics account to use this feature.
It appears that B12 uses third-party integrations to cover up the lack of business-oriented features. Options like email marketing or eCommerce integration remain to be paid add-ons to already expensive plans. However, this site builder manages to provide quite strong, even if basic, SEO tools.
After reading B12 website builder reviews, I anticipated my website to be a complete slouch.
Well, what do you know? Surprisingly, this B12 website builder review yielded extremely positive performance results. My test site performed well on both speed and responsiveness tests.
First, I ran PageSpeed and YSlow tests to determine the basic performance of my website. As you can see below, my site scored an ‘A’ on both tests – these are some of the best results I’ve seen from a web builder.
Next, I ran an extended page responsiveness test. While there were some inconsistencies in response times (blue), the site performed reasonably well, even when visitor numbers surged (green).
Overall, it's safe to say that this is a site builder that offers excellent performance. If you're aiming to build a website that loads quickly and performs well in search engines, B12 is one of your options.
All in all, B12 is a sleek website builder with a small learning curve, even for beginners. With a robust AI tool and design team on offer, it’s easy for a newcomer to build a comprehensive website without any design experience. B12 also exhibits exceptional performance features.
Unfortunately, this B12 website builder review also revealed that it is one of the most expensive web builders in the industry.

With no access to extensive customization options or any drag-and-drop tools, it's hard to see how the platform justifies its price. It's not bad - but elsewhere, you can get a lot more, for a lot less.
Since B12 website builder is not the only option out there that is easy to use, there are some alternatives to take a look at.
Wix is a major web builder that offers similar features to B12. In the initial setup process, you can opt to use Wix’s ‘ADI’ tool to automate the website creation process. By answering a few simple questions, you’ll enable Wix’s algorithm to design a site template that suits the needs of you or your business.
Unlike B12, Wix also offers a range of pre-set template options. While its drag-and-drop tool isn’t as extensive as some other competitors, it’s quite easy to customize the basic components of a Wix template. Wix also offers much more affordable price points than B12.
Squarespace is another popular web builder that has experienced strong growth in recent years. Users benefit from a range of sleek, modern templates that can be used for almost any niche. While Squarespace doesn’t offer an AI tool, the set-up process is exceptionally straightforward.
Squarespace’s in-house eCommerce solution is also excellent for online businesses. Unlike B12, you won’t have to rely on external integrations to set up a robust online store.
Site123 is a web builder that is acutely focused on ease of use. When you first sign up for a site, you’ll be directed to choose a website niche. Site123 will then build a site template that is designed specifically for your company or organization. While it doesn’t have the same AI engine backing its platform, Site123 does offer an extremely straightforward setup process.
Site123 offers attractive site designs, but B12’s options appear more modern. Still, Site123 is a much more affordable choice, and you won’t have to break the bank to access this platform’s services.
Weebly is another easy-to-use web builder that offers extensive eCommerce solutions. The platform’s performance is strong, and you don’t need any coding experience to build an attractive site. While there’s no AI tool available at Weebly, you will benefit from much lower price points than you can find at B12.
