In this Sitejet review, I’m going to test if this website builder is great for managing team projects, plus see if its features are professional enough to be worthy of your time and money.

Sitejet isn’t your regular pretty drag-and-drop website builder. It claims to be an advanced tool for managing and collaborating on projects while offering multi-user access for its platform.

That’s not something so common among the website building industry. That’s why this feature is one of many that makes Sitejet convenient for the pros.

Sitejet homepage motto

This website builder offers a handy amount of tools that help to manage smaller teams working on the same goal – be it billable time tracking or task assignment feature.

Alongside great project management features, Sitejet doesn’t forget common yet essential things – design flexibility with access to the code editor, variety of templates, and drag-and-drop website building process.

However, be it project management, content management or simple website design editing tools – they all come at a price. I’m not talking about money here, it’s something much more valuable – that is your time.

Sitejet has a steep learning curve – even writing this review took me longer than usual, since I needed some time to get a hang of this platform and its site editor. So if you’re a beginner and looking for an easy way out – this website building platform is not for you.

Yet it’s not a big issue since Sitejet’s main focus isn’t website building beginners. This platform is tailored to serve web developers and agencies.

Sitejet homepage

However, if you’re willing to invest some time to learn and stay on par with professionals in the industry – Sitejet has nearly everything you need.

Everything sounds so close to perfection, but how close?

Let’s dive deeper into this Sitejet review to find out.

|

PricingSitejet Pricing

Sitejet pricing ranges from $5 per month to $89 per month if you’re willing to pay for an annual plan up front – which would be more of an affordable choice.

For those paying month-to-month, prices range from $7 per month to $99 per month. There are three subscription tiers: Professional, Team, and Agency.

You can try the ‘Team’ plan for free for 14 days and it doesn’t require credit card information input. So you can feel secure while testing out its features and deciding if this platform isn’t too complex for you.

Sitejet Pricing
  • The ‘Professional’ package starts at $5 per month and provides users with access to Sitejet’s core design features. You’ll be able to build sites using its website editor as well as its automatic website generator. Users of the ‘Professional’ package also benefit from Sitejet’s in-house ticket support system, CMS, and workflow optimization tools.
  • Sitejet’s ‘Team’ package starts at $19 per month and is built for small web design companies. ‘Team’ users will retain all the core features of the ‘Professional’ package. Additionally, you’ll gain access to three user accounts, website exporting capabilities, and the option to add your own branding to the platform. This is a useful tool if you want to give clients access to your product without using Sitejet’s logos.
  • Sitejet’s ‘Agency’ package starts at $89 per month and is geared towards full-scale design agencies. You retain all the features associated with the team package, but you’ll also gain access to ten user accounts and custom permissions.

All Sitejet packages include one hosted website. On all plans you pay $60 per year ($5/month) for each additional website hosted on the platform. Every site you build using the platform has access to unlimited email addresses and site storage.

As you can see, one of the primary attributes that set these packages apart is the number of users per account. If you’re running a large agency with multiple team members, your business will require a more expensive package to offer access to all staff.

If you need even more users, or you want to migrate your current site to Sitejet, you can contact the company’s sales team for a custom quote.

SITEJET PRICING – A CONCLUSION

Sitejet offers quite affordable plans considering what's included in each of them. The "Professional" plan is great for single-user access and provides all the features and resources needed to build a stunning website. However, if you're looking to manage a team and profit from selling developed websites - then take a look at "Team" and "Agency" plans. The main difference that those two have is the number of multi-users that get access to the project.

Ease of UseIs Sitejet Easy to Use?

While Sitejet’s interface isn’t as intuitive as that of other leading web builders, it offers you a wide range of customization options that can help you build robust websites. Its drag-and-drop editor function means you can change templates and content with just a few clicks of your mouse.

Yet requiring only a few clicks to customize your template can be a flaw on its own, if not handled carefully. Two clicks can also be enough to ruin all the look and feel of your website front – for example, you can easily delete content blocks or disassemble the layout by clicking at the wrong button or dragging at the wrong place.

In some ways, Sitejet’s content editor is a victim of its own ambition. When you open the site editor for the first time, you may feel overwhelmed by the number of design options.

Double-clicking on any element of your website in the editor will trigger a large sub-menu of customizations. While this gives you greater control over the design of your site, it does take some getting used to.

Sitejet website editor

Sitejet’s drag-and-drop tool can also feel rigid at times. Dragging and moving elements within your template will occasionally cause formatting issues.

When I tried to pull text to different areas of the site, my text boxes often changed to different fonts and formats.

Regardless, don’t get disappointed, because you can always reverse mistakes by using the ‘Undo’ button at the top of the editor. Besides, Sitejet’s pop-ups will automatically guide you through the key components of the interface.

Sitejet site editing guide pop ups

If you’re really looking to save time, you can even use Sitejet’s automatic ‘Website Generator’ to build a custom site in a matter of minutes.

Sitejet's Website Generator

You’ll be prompted to fill in your ‘wishes’ for the site, which includes elements such as colors, inspirations, constructions, and logos. Sitejet will then produce a custom site based on your inputs.

Overall, you may find the interface a bit confusing at first, but it becomes much more intuitive the more you use it.

SITEJET EASE OF USE – A CONCLUSION

Sitejet is definitely not one of those beginner-friendly website building platforms that let you build a website under a span of minutes. It focuses more on providing a professional interface that essentially requires some time input to get a grasp of it. Of course, for people who want a faster solution, there's "Website Generator" that automatically builds a site according to your wishes.

TemplatesSitejet Templates

Since Sitejet is a really flexible website building platform, it focuses more on the do-it-yourself process than providing tons of pretty templates. At least, that’s what you would expect from it.

Fortunately, this platform has been (and keeps on) improving itself and its features. Before it used to have a limited amount of 40 templates, therefore some Sitejet reviews brushed it down as a platform’s minus. However, now the number has increased.

As for this day, you’ll find over 100 unique templates to choose from when you first start building your site.

There are custom templates constructed for a variety of different niches and service lines. You can also create your own from scratch if you have something particular in mind.

Sitejet template library

Sitejet offers templates for eCommerce, photography, travel, blogs, events, and over 15 other unique categories. If you choose a preset template, you can adjust the various components when you begin editing your site. While the template editor can feel slightly rigid, there are still plenty of chances to add your personal touch to a preset template.

Once you build your own template or edit an existing one, you can save it in your template library for later use. This is useful if you’re handling the platform to design websites for multiple clients. For example, I didn’t have to rebuild sites from scratch if I wanted to keep using my custom-built designs.

Sitejet - saving your custom templates

Unfortunately, you can’t add external templates within Sitejet’s platform. No chance of buying new templates from outside sources, at least for now. So I could only browse through Sitejet’s template library.

While this does leave you with fewer options than other leading platforms, the variety of templates at Sitejet ensures you have plenty to choose from.

SITEJET TEMPLATES – A CONCLUSION

Sitejet keeps improving itself as a platform and works on offering more than it did before - that includes its templates too. Right now there are around 100 modern-looking templates that you can choose from, that cover tons of niches, so you can definitely find something for your idea.

Business FeaturesSitejet for Business

While Sitejet’s in-house business tools appear quite limited, you are able to build functional eCommerce websites using third-party platforms (such as Ecwid). Moreover, users have access to strong SEO functions and a range of third-party integration options.

For those running an agency, Sitejet’s CRM (Customer Relationship Management) helps you manage your client communication and requests.

Sitejet eCommerce

To build an online store using Sitejet, you’ll need to integrate your website with a third-party eCommerce platform (such as Ecwid).

I was wondering – why Ecwid? So I asked Sitejet’s live chat support to find out – what does it offer for an eCommerce solution in general. You can see in the picture below how it went.

Sitejet Support

Kudos to the agent that was honest, kind, and fast-responding. As we can see, Sitejet has direct integration with Ecwid, which makes its services free to use (up to 10 products for one store).

While not offering an eCommerce solution themselves (and as I could see they’re not planning on it anytime soon), Sitejet manages to provide an option for online store building.

Moreover, this website builder offers custom eCommerce templates that are specifically designed for users that are interested in building online stores.

Sitejet SEO

Sitejet offers SEO tools within its core website editor. By clicking on the ‘Website’ tab at the top of the editor, you’ll be able to select the ‘SEO/Meta’ tab that opens up your core SEO controls.

Sitejet's SEO Tools

Here you’ll be able to insert meta tags, keywords, customize page URLs, and more. Sitejet also has additional information about SEO optimization on its site.

Sitejet CRM

Sitejet’s Customer Relationship Manager is a practical feature that takes your customers’ feedback to another level. If you’re an agency developing and maintaining multiple websites, Sitejet enables you to streamline client input and support requests. Clients can submit support tickets to your development team if they need changes to a site or a feature.

Additionally, you can create a separate portal for clients who want backend access to their website. With the ‘Team’ and ‘Agency’ packages, users will be able to add their own branding to their Sitejet portal.

This personal branding option helps you build a professional and personalized platform for current and future clients.

What’s great about Sitejet that it also lets you export already finished websites out of the platform to your customers. It also lets you host an exported website with a different hosting provider, so your clients aren’t tied down to Sitejet’s hosting servers for eternity.

Sitejet Integrations

While we already discussed using integrations to build eCommerce sites, Sitejet also allows users to integrate websites with a host of different third-party platforms.

This feature will give you or your clients a range of additional capabilities. Available integrations offer everything from payment processing to marketing automation.

Sitejet App Marketplace and Integrations

Some leading integrations include:

  • Google Analytics – provides data on such things like your website’s conversions, traffic, and search rankings;
  • Facebook Messenger – allows you to interact with visitors and customers of your website;
  • PayPal – lets you accept payments and donations through PayPal;
  • Trustpilot – lets you display your brand’s reviews to show credibility.

Overall, Sitejet offers some robust business features for both you and your clients. Whether you’re looking to communicate with clients, improve their SEO, or link up third-party integrations, you’ll find plenty of capabilities built into this platform.

SITEJET FOR BUSINESS – A CONCLUSION

Even while not having an eCommerce solution on its own, Sitejet manages to offer strong business-oriented features. For online store building, there is an Ecwid integration provided. It also has strong SEO tools to help you climb search engine rankings. CRM and third-party apps also streamline the project's development process.

PerformanceSitejet Performance

Other Sitejet reviews shed a positive light on the platform’s speed, but I decided to test Sitejet’s performance for myself.

These Sitejet tests displayed promising results – an A for PageSpeed and a B for YSlow. Both these tests are for finding out how the platform optimizes the website’s content.

While its results are not as strong as some competitors, it appears Sitejet’s performance is definitely an asset.

Sitejet performance test results

I also ran a test on how a website behaves while having more users surfing on the same site. As you can see below, my site displayed approximately 200ms response time (blue), even when visitor numbers (green) reached 50 virtual users at the time.

Sitejet responsiveness test

Response times were surprisingly consistent throughout the entire testing period. Overall, the Sitejet website’s performance was solid.

SITEJET PERFORMANCE – A CONCLUSION

Sitejet showed that it manages to load a website quite quickly and displayed above-average performance results compared to other website builders in the industry. It also doesn't fail with its response times while handling 50 virtual users at the time - which is quite high traffic.

Workflow OptimizationSitejet Workflow Optimization

Sitejet’s primary attraction is its workflow optimization platform. Unlike many other site builders, Sitejet allows you to manage large development teams and multiple projects at the same time.

As an agency owner, you can set tasks, track changes, calculate billable hours, and perform a range of other management-related functions.

Sitejet’s central dashboard is the hub of this optimization tool. On the dashboard, you can update the progress status of each project to exhibit the stage of the site’s development.

Sitejet's dashboard

You can also assign ‘To-dos’ to developers and send internal messages to your team.

Assigning tasks in Sitejet's dashboard

Sitejet offers custom permission levels that let you dictate which users have access to various components of your platform. It’s easy to onboard new staff members via the user management portal. You can even divide staff into sub-categories such as admin, sales, editor, and support.

One feature that proves really useful is Sitejet’s time tracking capabilities. When a component of a site is worked on by a team member, time is automatically recorded by the minute. This time is assigned to the current progress level of the project.

Tracking billable time in Sitejet

This is particularly helpful for providing accurate and verifiable billable hours to clients. It can also help you track the productivity of your developers.

SITEJET’S WORKFLOW OPTIMIZATION – A CONCLUSION

Even if you're not planning on using Sitejet's templates or drag-and-drop editor, the workflow optimization tools may be useful to a large development team. It's hard to find a rival web builder that comes close to matching Sitejet's project management tools.

Final VerdictSitejet Review – Final Thoughts

This Sitejet review uncovered a unique web builder that offers access to unmatched project management tools. Users benefit from workflow optimization, customer management, and a comprehensive web editing platform. As an agency owner, you can manage a large team of developers and support staff from a single location.

While its editor feels like it’s aimed towards pros, Sitejet still allows inexperienced web users to build robust sites. Just remember, there’s a steep learning curve and it might cost you some time to get a hang of this platform, especially if you’re a beginner.

However, it doesn’t mean that you will have to learn to code. Actually, you won’t need any coding background to build a professional online platform using this drag-and-drop system. You can even streamline the development process using its automatic website generator.

With solid performance results and the ability to offer unlimited storage, Sitejet allows you to provide plenty to your web design customers. Users can also gain access to additional features by integrating with a host of third-party software products.

Overall, although Sitejet's design platform isn't as seamless as those of some rivals in the industry, its commitment to project management tools allows it to stand out from the crowd. You won't find another platform that offers this level of workflow optimization.

Pros

  • Impressive project management tools;
  • Resourceful plans;
  • Great performance;

Cons

  • A steep learning curve for beginners;
  • The website editor is confusing at first;

Squarespace is a leading platform for designers looking to create aesthetic websites with a drag-and-drop tool. While Squarespace allows you to invite multiple ‘contributors’ and set different permission levels, it doesn’t have the same workflow optimization tools you find at Sitejet.

Squarespace allows you to add multiple sites to the same account, though the process isn’t nearly as seamless.

Wix offers users access to image-heavy templates and extensive application options. Design agencies can choose to create multiple accounts for clients or set up ‘contributor’ accounts for staff and clients to access sites.

You can customize permission levels. While this is a solid feature, you won’t find the same level of workflow optimization or platform branding you find in Sitejet.
